This is a Fisherman’s Cottage by the River Tay that had a pretty poor bedroom extension to the rear and the property made little or no use of the generous garden ground.
The proposal was to demolish the existing extension and replace with a new bedroom that extend to the north most boundary. By doing this, the intervening space became a top lit kitchen/dining area where our client could hang some of the art that he paints himself. In turn, this space opened out in to a new courtyard area that is sheltered from the prevailing wind and gives the modest sized cottage the feeling of SPACE and LIGHT and a further living area.
The proposal is finished with irregular sized vertical timber cladding that will age.
Our client loves the finished article and confirmed that during the summer that they and their family spent more time outside than they did inside.
Great client, great contractor, great solution. Lovely.
