We have designed this additional accommodation to a house in St. Andrews, Fife. The building is an extension to the existing house on the site, but it is intended to appear to be a separate, self-contained unit set within the existing “gap” between the house and the four storey stone terraced villas building opposite.
We have proposed contemporary materials to complement the existing limestone vernacular and the buff coloured cement render to the house. In addition, we proposed plenty of glass to assist in offering the appearance of the building being “lightweight” and to “float” over the existing garage, which makes way for a pend.
In addition, we propose an open plan Garden Room on the ground floor that makes maximum use of the mature garden and the evening light.
